Week 17: Collections (The Bullet Journal Method Book Club)
/Hello Sunshine!
This week we’re diving into my favorite topic about Bullet Journaling: Collections!
Collections are the thing that made the whole Bullet Journal make sense to me. As I explained in my Thorough Guide to the Bullet Journal article, once I realized that every single page in the Bullet Journal is a Collection, it all made came together for me. Each page has an immense power to be a given a role, each one full of a Collection of thoughts.

Welcome to week 17 of The Bullet Journal Method Book Club!
Kim: This week we're diving into Collections. Ryder compares the Bullet Journal to LEGOs, drawing the analogy that both are modular by design. Ryder explains, "each module is a template designed to organize and collect related informations; that's why we refer to them as Collections. Collections are interchangeable, reusable, and customizable." One of the newer Bullet Journal terms Ryder defines is a Stack - which comprises all of the Collections in your Bullet Journal. With this, we can visualize how you can add Collections to your Stack in order to make your Bullet Journal what you need it to be. This will differ over time as your needs change. This is where the real magic of the Bullet Journal resides - in its flexibility.
Finally, Ryder mentions that in the following sections we'll delve deeper into the four core Collections which are: the Daily Log, the Monthly Log, Future Log, and the Index.
Donna's discussion points for the week:
- If you create a collection where do you document it within your Bullet Journal?
- Are you one that starts your collection on the next page or do you have a special area for collections only? Please share your ideas for creating collections.
Action points for the week from Kim:
Share the Collections you have in your Stack (As in, what are all of the Collections that you currently have in your Bullet Journal? You can also share others you've used that you aren't currently using but that you found helpful at some point in your life)
