July #BulletJournalChallenge Recap
These are some of the images that stood out to me. Please let me know if you would like me to take your photo down and I will do so.
July #bulletjournalchallenge. Day 1 (month calendar) and day 2 (month tasks)
A photo posted by Kristina (@thekriswithakay) on Jul 2, 2015 at 3:01pm PDT
- Day 01: Month calendar. This is my hand drawn monthly calendar foldout that I've pasted into the cover of my bullet journal. Not much happening this month, but it's still early days... #bulletjournal #bulletjournalchallenge #decadethirty #handmade #handwriting #handwritten #handlettering #journal #journaling #notes #notebook #notebookaddict #organization #planner #planning #plannerd #planneraddicted #plannerprintable #stationery #todo #writing

Day 2: weekly #bulletjournalchallenge
A photo posted by Rachael (@xoxorachaelg) on Jul 2, 2015 at 8:56pm PDT
I think these mostly relate to the new bullets. Also, however, drew inspiration from word notebooks. (Which I may someday use in my TN.) Again, I'm catching up in July's #bulletjournalchallenge because I finally redid mine to what I discovered to work for me!

Day 3: #bulletjournalchallenge -old vs. new signifiers. I much prefer the old as I'm all about simplicity and 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'. even though I moved into a ringed #planner I still make my notes #bulletjournal style. This is my #businesssplanning 'dump' page where everything is signified with a checkbox- even sub-tasks. When I schedule them to my daily/weekly I note it with a migration arrow. If it gets done before I migrate it, it's checked off. Appointments or any date/time generated tasks are a triangle I color in with yellow. That's pretty much it. The simpler the better

- Day 04: index or index alternative. I don't have the luxury of numbered pages in the Piccadilly and I also don't have the patience to write them! So my alternative to an index is colour-tagging my daily pages according to the month they fall in. For instance, all May daily pages are coloured in the same line on the edge of the page (grey tag) for that month. See top picture for how my bullet journal looks like closed with the colour tags. For my collections and random notes, I'll write a word in the top corner of the page #bulletjournal #bulletjournalchallenge #decadethirty #handwriting #journal #journaling #notes #notebook #notebookaddict #organization #planner #planning #plannerd #planneraddicte #stationery #todo #writing

My advice on how to start a #bulletjournal. Start with a list of tasks you want to finish that week and go from there. #bulletjournalchallenge

My advice for starting a #bulletjournal? Begin with what you want to track or do or make habits of. There are so many possibilities out there it's overwhelming! For me, I not only wanted to track my to do items but I also wanted to get better at drinking water, reading, having more walking meetings, and tracking my food, budget, and main focuses for the day, so that's what I put into my layout. Once you know the purpose, you make it work for you. ☺ featuring some early #letteritjuly lettering today. #bulletjournalchallenge #bujo #planner #planning #midoritravelersnotebook #fauxdori #foxydori #maybooks #todolist #plannercommunity #planwithme #plannernerd #thefoxyfix #habits #letteredjuly

Day 6: My advise on how to start a Bullet Journal ? just dive right in!! The best thing about my bullet journal is that it is basically a written account of my life. All my thoughts, my tasks, my wants, my goals are here, and because of this amazing system I can just keep turning pages and putting more in there. I love it and it will change your life! I promise! 📝📝 #bulletjournal #bulletjournalchallenge #moleskin #journal

Day 7 of the #bulletjournalchallenge - I plan by using the future log, month calendar, month task list for general tasks/big tasks, and the dailies for smaller to dos and breaking down the big tasks. I plan my dailies either the evening before or early in the morning :) #bulletjournal #bujo #planner #planning #organize #organizing #journal #sketch #doodle #draw #write #amwriting

Do you see any mishaps? No, because that's the beauty of #bulletjournallove. Just add something to your #Leuchtturm1917 to cover up any imperfections. The mishaps end up adding beauty to my #bujo. #bulletjournalchallenge #bulletjournalcommunity #bulletjournaljunkies #planneraddict #onebookjuly2015

Day 9 of the #bulletjournalchallenge. My style isn't exactly like the original Bullet Journal system. I like having everything in one place, including my daily journaling. Plus, I don't think they ever mentioned anything about decorating 😉 #bulletjournal #bulletjournaljunkies #planner #plannergirl #plannerlove #kikkik #journal

Got a bit behind... Day 9: How I've made Bullet Journal my own I added a flip out monthly calendar, some tracking areas, and replaced the monthly list with a weekly version that I see and update more often. #bulletjournal #bulletjournalchallenge #PhotoGrid

Day 12 #bulletjournalchallenge project planning - I have project planning pages (tagged oranges in my journal) where I list down anticipate milestones or core tasks to be ticked off. I've tried project planning excel sheets on my computer for years, and they can't beat this analogue format. I can go into meetings with the same book and flip to the page to run through projects milestones. I have 7 different projects running concurrently and this helps keep my sanity in check. #plannergeek #plannerpeace #plannerlove #bujo #bulletjournal

Day 16: Bullet Journal Anxiety. I think the thing I worry about the most is losing it... And then having to rewrite my collections from memory 😬 That wouldn't be fun. #bulletjournalchallenge #bulletjournal #bujo #bulletjournaljunkies #planner #plannerlove #plannergirl #kikkik

Day 16 my bullet journal anxiety ... Two fold: #1 forward planning - solved with my month on two page insert. A thin little booklet from #yellowpaperhouse that saves some sanity! #2 little hands - see finger painting just out of reach from my #midoritravelersnotebook #onebookjuly2015 #bulletjournalchallenge

{day 18: simplifying} i had to set up my new #bulletjournal and took the chance to simplify my system. Loving the ruled one so far ❤ #bulletjournaling #bulletjournalchallenge #leuchtturm1917 inspired by the wonderful @decadethirty

Day 19: Food (meal plan, food log, etc.). I meal plan very simply in my Bullet Journal. It's usually a list of meal ideas for the week. I vary this up all the time from a simple list to being a bit more detailed. This time around I'm working in the small format of the Field Notes. All dots in this list are task bullets, like in the updated Bullet Journal guidelines. The sub-tasks are also to be checked off. I place prep steps and reminders to have the leftovers of the meals. A lot of the time we'll cook a new meal every day and forget that there are also leftovers to be had. There is also a column for where the recipe of this meal can be found. If you're anything like me, your recipes are probably in various locations. I use a combination of cookbooks, the Paprika app, a red Jr. Arc where recipes that we love are written down and stored, etc. I love how the Bullet Journal works perfectly with other tools. On the opposite page is my food log. I usually put the whole week down but the Field Notes is a little small for this task. This is my fifth week using this layout for a Food Log and I love it. Planning meals on days doesn't work for me...I usually don't feel like what I planned for that day. I like looking at the plan each morning and seeing what i'd like for dinner then prep the ingredients for that meal. Do you manage your food by meal planning, food logging or something else in your Bullet Journal or planner? :) #bulletjournalchallenge #bulletjournal #mealplanning

#bulletjournalchallenge July 24:habit tracker, this is a running log I made. I'm happy to say I have done 30 running training days since I started in Mid May. I didn't think I would actually stick to my walk/run program but I did. #onebookjuly2015 #bulletjournal #moleskine #running

#Julybulletjournalchallenge Day 28: Creative freedom? My journal is 1 part bullet journal + 1 part lettering journal + 1 part scrapbook + 1 part project planner + 1 part life tracker. (I'm sure there are other parts that I forgot!) It is ever evolving. I think that is the very definition of creative freedom! 😀 #thejournalfactory #lifedocumented #doingitmyway #beoriginal #diy #makeityourself #journal #moleskine #moleskines #moleskinejournal #projects #moleskineplanner #bulletjournal #planner #planneraddict #plannerlove #plannernerd #plannercommunity #stickers #stamps #washitape #bulletjournalchallenge #bulletjournallove

This one wasn't part of the challenge, but I loved it that she created a weekly set-up to suit her needs and I just had to share.
I find that I just need a slightly more detailed look at my week before I can jump right into my super detailed daily spreads. It helps me stay focused, but to not over plan. Plus, this is the ONLY place I could think of to keep my grocery list that wouldn't take over my Moleskine. #bulletjournal #BuJo #workinprogress #journal #planner
