Yellow tulips done with colored pencil. I’ve been wanting to make these into an art piece ever since I took a photo of them earlier this year. They were a Valentine’s gift from my sweetie 💛. I finally sat down yesterday and about six hours with three attempts across three different mediums later, this is the result.

This is my first attempt working with colored pencil in a long time. It’s challenging working with mainly one color and working to make it pop and give it character and shape it line by line, scribble by scribble. More time than you’d realize or want

The things that are bad eventually change
It rarely happens exactly how we expect
But it won’t always be like this
Eventually all things set like the sun

Sometimes it’s multiple times a day. The flexibility of journaling whenever has always been my favorite part about journaling. No pressure, it flows to the rhythm of your life. Someday Eventually Things Will Make Sense

Someday eventually things will make sense. When they do, you’ll be in a completely different time than the one you were in when you were trying to figure things out. The pieces might make sense, but they’ll no longer hold the same weight that they might’ve when you really needed to understand. Take solace in knowing that what brings pain to your heart may eventually become a memory someday. The things that hurt you, will hopefully cease their grasp on your heart. The things that keep you up at night, darting in your mind, will disappear and give you a good night’s rest. One day you’ll see how much things can change, and when they do, you’ll be stronger and wiser. You’ll be able to grow through whatever it is and find the good you were looking for. Perhaps you’ll realize that it was in your capacity all along. Someday it will all end and peace will find you again.

Trying out a new camera angle 😊 Seems simple, but I have been looking for a solid method to take overhead videos for a long time (I’ve tried several different ways) and I’m testing this out to see how this new set up works, so far I like it! Clean Fountain Pens

Today I spent 3 hours cleaning 12 fountain pens 😅 I had them inked up for a long time and they definitely needed some attention and care. I usually have several inked up at a time but the ink dried out in some of these so it was just time to clean them. Now they’re all resting after their bath 😊 I had to let them soak for a bit in some water to help get out the ink that was under the nibs. I disassembled a few, but the rest were just a matter of patience. All that said, I still have more inked up 🙈 Once I get through those, I shall not have so many inked up...(isn’t that what we all tell ourselves 😂). How are you doing today? Do you ever go a long time without cleaning your fountain pens?

You’ve got a friend ❤️ I love this song. Sweet little song lyrics for all the friends out there that may need some comfort.

I wrote out the lyrics in contrasting colors to highlight my favorite parts of the song.

To all of the friends that need a little encouragement to reach out or to know that they’re cared about. In one of my last posts, there was this tender conversation in the comments about friendships and it squeezed at my heart to know how many of us are going through (or have gone through) similar sitautions in not hearing back from the ones you care about...it’s a strange and trying time for everyone. If only they would let us know how they’re doing, right? Or reach out to say hello and ask how you’re doing... One of the ways I’ve read about what this time is like is how it’s like grief that everyone is going through, such as mourning the loss of the moments one could currently be living...and grief is something everyone goes through and handles differently. And when everyone is going through it at the same time, well, it’s just an upheaval of emotions. People might be acting strangely and it makes sense when we’re all living lives either slightly differently or completely differently than we usually do.

I can offer the consolation that it’s okay to feel however you feel. Perhaps you’ll notice new things about yourself and others during this time. It’s a season we’re all going through, and all seasons lead to different seasons eventually.

Remember to check in with the ones you care about, they might be wondering why you haven’t checked in if you haven’t by now. (Not just now, but during all stages of life). But if it’s too much right now, that’s okay, too. Allow yourself to simply be and feel as you do. Perhaps write a little. I find writing lyrics that mirror how I’m feeling comforting.

Do you long-form journal?

Here’s a view from my journaling session this morning. I write with my notebook slanted because it’s a more comfortable position for me to write in. I like lines for my longer-form journaling because it’s nothing else but the lines and my writing on the page. The loops and swirls of fresh ink and my thoughts on the page expressing a whole world. It’s relaxing. It’s cathartic. It’s like breathing air, taking in a full gulp’s worth after racing through the inner world of your thoughts. It’s all you. It’s there in any form you need it to be. What do you love about journaling?

Happy 2020!

I’m excited about diving into a brand new notebook! How about you?

For years I’d been using Leuchtturm1917 notebooks in their various color offerings available at nearby stores and from online retailers. Then, ever since the official @BulletJournal notebooks were released, I’ve been alternating between the three color offerings for so long, I thought I would mix it up with some other colors.

First up is red. It’s been a comforting color to me lately. I never much liked it growing up, but it’s been growing on me the last couple of years as I’ve been introducing it more into my life. There’s something about this bright apple red that seems like such a cheery color to welcome in a new year 😊

Have you found yourself gravitating to new things you weren’t that into before? It’s fun discovering that the thing you might have been resisting is the exact thing you’re into now.

2019 Begins here 💫 Did you start the year with a fresh #BulletJournal or continue your current one? The first time I stepped into a new year when I first started Bullet Journaling, I kept going because I relished completing an entire notebook. The following few years I managed to complete Bullet Journals right as the year ended and I cracked open a new one for the new year. Ryder’s official recommendation is to start a new Bullet Journal at the start of the year. However, I recently opened this Bullet Journal and wanted to keep going with it to continue to have that satisfaction of completing an entire notebook. Also, I’m not quite done writing this notebook’s story 😌. How about you? What’s your preference? New year = new #BuJo or New year = keep going in your current one?
